Egyptian authorities in Ismailia have uncovered details of a horrific crime that has shocked the nation, a 13-year-old boy murdered his classmate and dismembered the body using a power saw in an attempt to imitate scenes from a violent movie he had recently watched.

Discovery of the crime

The case began when residents in the city of Ismailia reported finding body parts of an unidentified child. Police immediately cordoned off the site and launched an intensive investigation.

At the same time, police received another report from a family in the nearby village of Nafisha, stating that their young son had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Investigators soon linked the two reports, discovering that the missing child was last seen with his classmate, the now-confessed perpetrator.

Chilling confession

According to initial investigations, the suspect lured his friend into his family’s apartment while his parents were away. After killing him, he used his father’s electric saw - who works as a carpenter - to cut the body into pieces.

During interrogation, the boy admitted to committing the act after watching a violent horror film on his mobile phone days earlier, saying he wanted to “recreate” what he had seen.

The schoolbag used to hide the body

In an attempt to conceal the crime, the suspect placed his classmate’s body parts inside his schoolbag. Over several hours, he carried the bag to a garbage area behind the Carrefour mall and scattered the remains in different spots to avoid suspicion.

Authorities took the suspect back to his home to reenact the crime under heavy police presence and later escorted him to the dumping sites. The prosecution has ordered his detention for 15 days pending investigation and referred him to a specialized committee to assess his psychological and mental state at the time of the murder.

The brutal killing has reignited debate in Egypt over the influence of violent media and video games on children, as well as the need for stronger parental supervision and digital awareness.
