Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced on Monday that he has awarded US President Donald Trump the Order of the Nile, Egypt’s highest state honor, in recognition of his pivotal role in brokering the “Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement” for peace in Gaza.

The announcement came during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, hosted by Egypt with participation from leaders and representatives of more than 30 countries and international organizations.

Acknowledging a Crucial American Role

In his speech, President El-Sisi said the award reflects Egypt’s and the Arab world’s gratitude for the “sincere and decisive” efforts by Trump and his negotiation team to end the two-year-long conflict and protect Palestinian lives.

He highlighted that Trump’s determination and unconventional diplomatic approach were key factors in breaking the long-standing deadlock, ultimately guiding all parties toward an agreement that opens a “door of hope” for the entire region.

The Order of the Nile: Egypt’s Highest Honor

The Grand Collar of the Nile is Egypt’s most prestigious decoration, awarded to heads of state and individuals who have rendered extraordinary services to Egypt or humanity. Granting it to a foreign president signifies the highest level of appreciation and recognition, underscoring the scale of the achievement.

This honor places President Trump among a select group of world leaders who have received this rare distinction.

Sharm El-Sheikh Summit: Celebrating Diplomacy

The award was presented at the peak of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which aimed to formalize the ceasefire agreement, establish mechanisms for its implementation, and outline a roadmap for Gaza’s “day after.”

The summit, described by Trump as “a great day and a new beginning” for the region, has become both a diplomatic milestone and a celebration of peace, with El-Sisi’s gesture toward the US president standing out as a defining moment of the event.
