US, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey sign Gaza ceasefire agreement

• US, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar sign document formalizing Gaza ceasefire, acting as guarantors.

Leaders from the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar signed a document on Monday evening formalizing the Gaza ceasefire agreement between ‘Israel’ and Hamas. 

The signing took place at the conclusion of the “Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit,” making the four countries as guarantors responsible for monitoring implementation and ensuring compliance of the deal.

"The document is going to spell out rules and regulations and lots of other things," US President Donald Trump said before signing, repeating twice that "it's going to hold up."

The document establishes an international mechanism to oversee implementation of the Gaza ceasefire, including prisoner exchanges, reopening crossings, aid delivery, reconstruction, and long-term political issues.

Earlier, Trump praised the roles of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, calling their leaders “amazing.”

The signing coincides with the initial prisoner exchanges between Hamas and ‘Israel.’
