Jordanian army foils drug smuggling attempt via remote-controlled balloons
A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army announced Saturday that the Jordanian Eastern Command thwarted an attempted drug smuggling operation involving remotely guided balloons.
The source explained that Border Guard forces, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected a cluster of balloons within their area of responsibility. The forces successfully intercepted the balloons and recovered their cargo after it landed inside Jordanian territory.
Upon inspection, the balloons were found to be equipped with remote control devices and loaded with narcotics. The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
The source reaffirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces continue to enhance their border security systems to confront all forms of infiltration and smuggling, stressing the unwavering readiness of the Border Guard personnel to defend the nation's security.
