Authorities foil large crystal meth smuggling attempt into Jordan

The Public Security Directorate's spokesperson announced that coordinated efforts between the Anti-Narcotics Department and other security agencies successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle the largest quantity of the deadly drug crystal meth into Jordan in years.

According to the statement, the Anti-Narcotics Department received intelligence indicating that a foreign national was preparing to smuggle a substantial quantity of crystal meth into the country.

A joint investigative and operational team was formed in collaboration with other security services to verify the information and uncover further details.

The spokesperson noted that over several weeks, the joint team tracked all leads, including information from outside Jordan, until they identified the main suspect, who had entered the country specifically for this operation.

Authorities closely monitored his movements and uncovered the smuggling method—concealing the drugs inside parts of heavy machinery.

Officials also determined the scheduled entry of the machinery via the Karameh border crossing using a passenger vehicle.

The vehicle was tracked to the capital, where the primary suspect arrived to receive it. He was arrested on the spot. Upon inspection, authorities discovered heavy machinery parts concealing 45 kilograms of crystal meth.
