Houthi spokesperson announces full aerial blockade on 'Israel'
The military spokesperson for Yemen’s Ansar Allah group (the Houthis) announced on Sunday a "comprehensive aerial blockade" on 'Israel', in response to the escalation of 'Israeli' military operations in Gaza.
In a televised statement, the spokesperson said the group would enforce the blockade by repeatedly targeting 'Israeli' airports, specifically naming Ben Gurion Airport, also referred to by its Arabic name, Lod.
“We call on all airlines to cancel flights to Israeli airports for the safety of their aircraft,” the spokesperson warned, signaling an escalation in the group’s air campaign.
He added that Yemen rejects what he described as 'Israel’s' ongoing aggression against Arab countries, citing airstrikes in Syria and Lebanon.
“Yemen will not accept continued violations of Arab lands,” he said, indicating broader regional opposition.
The announcement follows an earlier missile strike launched earlier today from Yemen. According to 'Israel’s' Channel 12, incoming and outgoing flights were suspended after explosions were heard near the site, causing panic and sending civilians to shelters.
Reports suggest the missile, launched from Sanaa, breached 'Israel’s' air defense systems. The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) acknowledged the failure of its interception attempt. While flights have resumed, police have kept the airport’s entrances closed pending inspection of the impact site.
