Safadi convenes with Arab ministers to discuss Gaza reconstruction efforts
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi participated today in a meeting hosted by the brotherly State of Qatar. The meeting included Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt; Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; Hussein Al-Sheikh, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization; and Steve Hanke, U.S. President's Envoy to the Middle East.
The meeting discussed developments in the situation in Gaza and the region.
A joint statement issued after the meeting indicated that the Arab ministers presented the plan for the reconstruction of Gaza approved at the Arab summit held in Cairo on March 4, 2025. They agreed with the U.S. envoy to continue consultations and coordination regarding the plan as the basis for the reconstruction efforts in the area.
The statement emphasized that the Arab ministers stressed the importance of establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. They underscored the necessity of launching a genuine effort to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, ensuring the realization of the Palestinian people's aspirations for freedom and independence.
The Arab ministers reiterated their commitment to maintaining dialogue to enhance calm and work collaboratively to establish security, stability, and peace in the region through intensified diplomatic efforts and coordination with various regional and international parties.
Prior to the meeting, the Arab ministers held a coordination meeting regarding efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, halt the deterioration of the situation in the occupied West Bank, and work together to create real prospects for achieving just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
During his visit to Qatar, Safadi began by meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, where they discussed ways to enhance the historical brotherly relations between the two countries and the situation in the region.
Safadi thanked Sheikh Mohammed for hosting the Arab ministers' meeting with the U.S. envoy.
Both ministers emphasized their commitment to developing cooperation between the two countries in various fields and maintaining coordination regarding regional developments.
