Syria denies reports of President Assad leaving country

The Syrian Presidency issued a statement Saturday, saying the President Bashar Al-Assad is carrying out his duties from the capital Damascus; denying reports that Assad has left the country.

The presidency said the reports are “blatant fabrications" and part of a familiar strategy used by certain outlets to spread misinformation.

"These falsehoods are not new but are a continuation of attempts to mislead and influence the state and Syrian society, tactics that have persisted throughout the years of war," the statement read.

It added that Assad has also not made visits of any kind to any other country.
