Jordanians kidnapped in South Africa released

The two Jordanian citizens, who were kidnapped in South Africa were released this morning, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sufian Qudah confirmed.

Qudah explained that the Operations Center at the Ministry and the Jordanian Embassy in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, were following up on the incident closely with the local authorities there.

The spokesman added that the Jordanian Embassy in Pretoria has followed up on the release procedures overnight.

The Jordanian Ambassador to South Africa, Ibrahim Al-Awawdeh, confirmed that the kidnappers are now with their family.

Qudah thanked the local authorities in South Africa and the South African Ambassador to Jordan for their cooperation in this case.

Earlier on August 17, 2019, a Jordanian man and his son, who are both businessmen in South Africa were kidnapped. 

The kidnappers had asked for a ransom to set the kidnapped free.
