Jordan, Iraq reaffirms strong ties amid misinformation attempts
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held a phone call today with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Fuad Hussein.
The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Iraq, reaffirming the strategic nature of their relationship and their commitment to ongoing cooperation that benefits both nations.
The conversation also addressed recent attempts by certain individuals or groups to undermine Jordan-Iraq relations and spread hatred between the two peoples through fabricated videos related to the Iraq-Palestine football match held in Amman on March 25, 2025.
Safadi emphasized that official investigations and technical analyses had conclusively proven that the circulated video was falsified and misleading.
He confirmed that authorities are continuing their probe to identify those responsible for spreading these falsehoods and will take appropriate legal action.
Both ministers stressed that the historical ties between Jordan and Iraq, as well as the awareness of their peoples, are far stronger than any fabricated attempts to incite division and discord.
