Jordanian UNICEF official returns home after detention in Yemen

Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign affairs announced on Thursday the return of Jordanian citizen Lana Shukri Kataw, the Deputy Director of UNICEF's office in Sana’a, after she was detained for several days in the Yemeni capital.

Kataw was welcomed at Marka Military Airport by the ministry's Secretary General, Ambassador Daifallah al-Fayez, and the Director of the Operations and Consular Affairs Department, Ambassador Firas Khoury.

“The diligent diplomatic efforts by the ministry, in coordination with all relevant Jordanian authorities, were successful in securing Kataw's release and ensuring her safe return to the kingdom,” the statement by the ministry said.
