Head of  ArabiaWeather, Mohammed Al-Shaker, said that the possibility of locusts entering the Kingdom could be weak due to wind activity and expected cold weather starting on Tuesday.

He added that locust swarms movements depend on the direction and speed of wind, pointing out that the source of wind coming in conjunction with the arrival of the swarms is not from the center of its breeding grounds, which may reduce the possibility of entry into the Kingdom.

Shaker said that on Monday Jordan may be exposed to winds from the Red Sea, which may carry some locusts, but it is not in any way alarming.

He added that locusts do not breed in cold weather, and die with strong weather depressions.

The snow in 2013 in the Dana-Tafileh region killed locusts that had entered the Kingdom.
