The Public Security Directorate reported Tuesday that several streets and neighborhoods across Jordan experienced rising rainwater levels, with some homes, especially those below street level, flooded.
Authorities warn against risk-taking
The Directorate cautioned residents against attempting to cross waterlogged roads, whether on foot or by vehicle, due to the serious risk to life and property.
In coordination with Civil Defense, authorities have set up advanced monitoring points along key flood channels, including the Zarqa stream and nearby residential areas, equipped to allow rapid intervention by rescue teams.
Preventive guidance for residents
Residents living in homes below street level were advised to use pumps to remove water and take necessary precautions in case of sudden flooding. The Directorate also stressed the safe use of heaters, ensuring proper ventilation, and not leaving them on while sleeping to prevent accidents or carbon monoxide hazards.
Officials urged the public to contact emergency services at 911 without hesitation whenever assistance is needed to maintain public safety.
