  • Iran proposes one-month deadline for US deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz, end naval blockade and wars in Iran and Lebanon, Axios reports.

Iran has set a one-month deadline for negotiations on a comprehensive agreement with the United States that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, end a US naval blockade, and establish a permanent ceasefire in Iran and Lebanon, according to a report by Axios on Saturday.

Two sources briefed on the proposal said Tehran submitted a revised 14-point framework to Washington on Thursday, outlining a tightly defined timeline for securing an initial agreement covering maritime access, ending the blockade, and halting hostilities on both fronts.

The plan envisions a second phase of talks only after an initial deal is reached, with a further one-month negotiation period focused on Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump signals review but questions proposal

US President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, declined to rule out renewed military action.

“If they misbehave, if they do something bad, but right now, we’ll see. It’s a possibility that could happen, certainly,” Trump said, according to remarks made Saturday.

Trump added that he was reviewing the Iranian proposal. “I’m looking at it. I’ll let you know about it later,” he said before departing Palm Beach for Miami. “They told me about the concept of the deal. They’re going to give me the exact wording now.”

Sharp criticism posted on social media

Shortly after his remarks, Trump took a more critical tone on his Truth Social platform, saying he “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable” and arguing that Iran “has not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”

On Friday, Trump said he was not satisfied with Tehran’s proposal, though he indicated he would review it further.

US-Iran tensions over maritime blockade

In the same briefing, Trump referred to the blockade on Iranian ports as a “very friendly” and uncontested measure, while maintaining it did not contradict his assertion that hostilities had been “terminated.”

Iran’s proposal reportedly links the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and lifting of the blockade to a broader ceasefire agreement in Iran and Lebanon, followed by structured nuclear negotiations in a second phase.

Regional tensions remain high

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global energy chokepoint, and tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified amid ongoing disputes over military operations, sanctions, and nuclear activity.

The proposed framework, according to the sources, aims to de-escalate regional conflict first, with nuclear negotiations delayed until after an initial political and security agreement is reached.
