  • A-level and IGCSE exams in Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, and Lebanon cancelled for May/June 2026; Jordan not affected.

Pearson has confirmed that schools in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Lebanon will not hold International GCSE, International A Level, and iPLS exams for the May/June 2026 series.

The decision was made in consultation with local authorities and international awarding bodies, prioritising the safety of students and staff amid ongoing regional concerns. Notably, Jordan was not mentioned in the announcement, and exams there are expected to proceed as scheduled.

The education provider stated that it has established contingency processes to support schools in the event of exam disruptions. Pearson emphasised that its priority remains helping students progress through their courses and achieve grades that accurately reflect their performance.

Arrangements for students affected by the cancellations are currently being finalised. Pearson promised to provide additional guidance and FAQs for schools in the affected countries once plans are confirmed.

For other countries in the region, including Jordan, exams are expected to go ahead as planned. Pearson highlighted that exams remain the fairest and most reliable way for students to demonstrate their achievements, and schools have been informed directly about next steps and support options for students preparing for the May/June 2026 exam series.

Pearson has reassured students and educators that it will maintain regular communication in the coming months to provide support and guidance.
