  • ‘Israel’ faces critical military manpower shortage amid multiple war.
  • Chief of staff warns forces may “collapse in on itself” without urgent reforms.

The chief of staff of the ‘Israel’ Defense Forces, Eyal Zamir, has warned that the military could “collapse in on itself” if urgent reforms are not implemented to address a growing shortage of soldiers.

Speaking at a security cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zamir raised what he called “10 red flags,” highlighting that the military’s ability to conduct routine operations is at risk as it fights on multiple fronts.

“The demands on our forces are growing, and without changes, it will not be long before we cannot carry out basic missions,” Zamir told officials, according to local media reports.

Zamir urged the government to pass new legislation, including a conscription law, a reserve duty law, and a law to extend mandatory service, in order to stabilize the military’s manpower.

The warning comes amid heightened regional tensions, with ‘Israel’ engaged in multiple conflicts that have stretched its forces and intensified calls for reforms to military service requirements.

Officials have not indicated whether new legislation will be fast-tracked, but Zamir’s statements underline the urgent pressure on the military to maintain operational readiness.
