The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, has launched a pilot early warning system on mobile phones as part of national efforts to enhance readiness and response during emergencies.

The trial will take place in the Petra region, taking into account current weather conditions, with the goal of evaluating the system’s effectiveness in real-world scenarios.

The initiative aims to test the system’s ability to deliver alerts directly and instantly to citizens, particularly in cases related to severe weather or other emergencies. Alerts will be accompanied by an audible signal on mobile devices to ensure immediate attention.

Authorities emphasized that the messages sent during this trial are purely experimental and advised citizens not to worry when receiving them. The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to develop Jordan’s early communication and awareness systems.

The test message reads:

"National Center for Security and Crisis Management
Dear citizens,
We would like to draw your attention to the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the coming hours and warn of potential flooding in valleys and low-lying areas."

This pilot marks a step forward in strengthening Jordan’s emergency preparedness and ensuring timely communication with residents during critical events.
