UNESCO has congratulated Jordan on the official inclusion of the Ajloun Forest Reserve and Yarmouk Forest Reserve into its renowned World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

In social media posts, UNESCO emphasized that this recognition underscores Jordan’s efforts to balance biodiversity conservation with sustainable development. With the addition of Ajloun and Yarmouk, the Kingdom now boasts four biosphere reserves, alongside Dana and Mujib, solidifying its role as a global leader in environmental protection.

“This milestone further strengthens Jordan’s position on the global environmental map as a leading destination for nature conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources,” UNESCO stated.

The organization hailed the achievement as “a remarkable step for nature, people, and the planet."
