Jordan’s Prince Ali seeks suspension of 'Israel' from FIFA, UEFA
His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association (JFA) and the West Asian Football Federation, announced on Saturday a groundbreaking diplomatic initiative aimed at suspending the membership of the Israeli Football Association in both FIFA and UEFA.
Speaking at the general assembly of the West Asian Football Federation in Amman, Prince Ali emphasized that the effort is fully coordinated with the Palestinian Football Association in response to 'Israel’s' “mixing of sports with politics and targeting of Palestinian athletes.”
- Coordinated action plan -
Prince Ali outlined that the first step involved an agreement with the Palestinian Football Association to unify efforts and coordinate positions. The action plan includes sending official letters and holding meetings with FIFA and UEFA leadership to formally discuss suspending 'Israeli' participation in international competitions.
Prince Ali reiterated that the goal is to hold FIFA and UEFA accountable for protecting the game and enforcing their charters, which prohibit political interference and ensure the safety of all players.
- Targeting Palestinian sports -
Prince Ali highlighted that this initiative is a direct response to 'Israeli' practices that “disrupt the lives of Palestinian athletes and systematically target them.”
He stressed the need for the international football community to intervene, saying these violations hinder the development of Palestinian sports and contradict the principles of fair play and sportsmanship.
