A recent public opinion poll in 'Israel' indicates that most 'Israelis' support the nation’s controversial strike targeting Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, earlier this week.

Published Thursday evening by Channel 12, the survey found that 55 percent of respondents believe 'Israel' was justified in attacking the Hamas leadership meeting. In contrast, 28 percent said 'Israel' should not have carried out the operation, while 17 percent were undecided.

The poll also explored the perceived impact of the unprecedented strike on diplomatic efforts. Nearly half of those surveyed, 49 percent, said they believe the attack could undermine ongoing prisoner exchange talks and ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. Meanwhile, 33 percent felt the strike would not have a negative effect on these diplomatic efforts.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is expected to hold talks Friday evening in New York with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The discussions are set to focus on the aftermath of this week’s Israeli strike that targeted Hamas leaders in Doha.

The meeting comes as Trump signals support for Qatar and opposition to the 'Israeli' action, according to Axios.

For Sheikh Mohammed, the talks with Trump and other senior American officials are part of a broader diplomatic effort to rally international pressure on 'Israel' to halt the war in Gaza.
