Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for a shooting attack on a bus stop in east Jerusalem on Monday morning that killed seven 'Israeli' settlers and wounded several others.

In a statement, the group said the operation targeted “Israeli soldiers and settlers” and hailed the two attackers as martyrs.

According to 'Israeli' authorities, the late-morning attack occurred at the Ramot Junction on Yigal Street.

The assailants reportedly arrived in a vehicle and opened fire at the bus stop. Police confirmed that the two gunmen were killed at the scene after a security officer and a civilian returned fire.

Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency service, reported that the fatalities included a man “about 50 years old and three men around 30.” Seven others were seriously wounded and were receiving medical treatment. Paramedic Fadi Dekaidek described the scene as “severe,” with victims lying on the road and sidewalk, some unconscious.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security meeting following the attack, which has heightened tensions in the city amid ongoing conflict.
