Drone drug smuggling attempt foiled on Jordan’s western border

The Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army announced early Sunday that a drug smuggling attempt using a drone was thwarted along the western front of the Southern Military Region.

A military source from the General Command said that Border Guard forces, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, successfully intercepted a drone attempting to cross the border carrying narcotics.

The drone was detected and tracked before engagement rules were applied, resulting in its downing inside Jordanian territory. The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities.

The source reaffirmed the Jordanian Armed Forces’ commitment to utilizing all available capabilities to prevent the infiltration of narcotics and protect national security.
