Netanyahu vows to appoint next Shin Bet chief despite legal block

In a defiant public statement on Wednesday, "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted that his government will move forward with selecting the next head of the Shin Bet, "Israel's" internal security agency—despite legal objections raised by the attorney general.

"Under my command, the government of Israel will appoint the next head of the Shin Bet," Netanyahu declared during his first televised press conference since December.

The announcement comes amid growing tension between the prime minister and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, who has reportedly prohibited Netanyahu from making high-level appointments due to ongoing legal and political constraints.

This announcement comes after former Shin Bet chief, Ronen Bar, resigned after mounting pressure from Netanyahu to remove him.
