Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) directly opened fire at a European-Arab diplomatic delegation on the outskirts of Jenin refugee camp.

In this regard, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the heinous crime committed by the IOF, which involved the direct targeting and live fire against a diplomatic delegation accredited to the State of Palestine, accompanied by a number of Arab and foreign journalists, during a field visit in Jenin Governorate to assess the humanitarian situation and the crimes and violations committed by the IOF in the area.

The statement continued, "This aggressive act constitutes a blatant and serious violation of the provisions of international law and the most basic principles of diplomatic relations as stipulated in the 1961 Vienna Convention, which guarantees the protection and immunity of diplomatic missions and delegations. Targeting accredited representatives of member states in the State of Palestine is a dangerous escalation in the conduct of the occupation and reflects a systematic disregard for international law, Palestinian sovereignty, and the sanctity of foreign representatives on its territory."

It added, "The Ministry holds the Israeli Occupation government fully and directly responsible for this cowardly attack and affirms that it will not go unpunished. The Ministry also calls on the international community—especially the countries to which the targeted delegation members belong—to take clear positions and deterrent measures against the occupation authorities, and to put an end to their continued crimes, including assaults on accredited diplomatic representatives."

The Ministry reiterated its call for the urgent provision of international protection for the Palestinian people and for diplomats working in the State of Palestine.
