Government to announce new details on national security plots
Jordan's Minister of Government Communication and government spokesperson, Mohammad Momani, confirmed that the country is addressing plots threatening national security within a structured and legal framework.
He stressed that Jordan is a nation of strong institutions, operating steadily and in line with the law.
Speaking at a press conference during a Cabinet session in Ajloun, Momani stated that new facts and actions related to these national security threats would soon be revealed, with details to be shared by the Minister of Interior.
The General Intelligence Directorate (GID) recently thwarted several plots aimed at destabilizing the country, creating chaos, and causing material damage within Jordan.
Sixteen individuals were arrested in connection with the schemes, which the GID had been closely monitoring since 2021.
The plots involved manufacturing rockets using both locally made tools and materials imported for illegal purposes. The conspirators also possessed explosives, firearms, and a ready-to-use missile. Additionally, there were plans to build drones and recruit and train operatives both inside Jordan and abroad.
