Jordan’s tourism sector posted a strong start to 2025, with revenues climbing to USD 1.717 billion in the first quarter—an 8.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to new data from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).

The boost was largely fueled by rising spending from key international markets. Visitors from Asia led the growth with a notable 27.9 percent jump in expenditures, while American tourists contributed a 13.6 percent increase. Jordanian expatriates and tourists from other Arab countries also played a role, with spending up by 7.4 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively. In contrast, European tourist spending dipped slightly, falling 0.6 percent year-on-year.

Despite the positive quarterly performance, the month of March brought a temporary dip, with tourism revenues dropping 8.4 percent compared to March 2024. The monthly total stood at USD 433.3 million.

The CBJ also reported that Jordanians are spending more on travel abroad. Outbound tourism spending reached $490.6 million in the first three months of 2025—a 15 percent increase from USD 426.5 million during the same period last year.
