Jordan's mobile bakery in Gaza
Jordan’s mobile bakery sole bread provider in Gaza: World Central Kitchen
The Jordanian mobile bakery is currently the only operating bakery in the Gaza Strip, providing bread to both the local community and hospitals, amid a severe flour shortage that has forced many bakeries to shut down, according to the World Central Kitchen (WCK) team.
The mobile bakery was sent to Gaza on Dec. 24, 2024, under royal directives to help alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by the Israeli Occupation's aggression on Gaza. It operates in collaboration with World Central Kitchen, an international non-governmental organization that delivers meals and food aid to people affected by conflict and disasters.
In a press statement, WCK said the mobile bakery is currently stationed in central Gaza. “We remain committed to supporting the people of Gaza during this difficult time,” the statement read.
The Jordanian bakery has a production capacity of about 3,500 loaves per hour—over 75,000 loaves daily.
This initiative is part of Jordan’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian, medical, and relief aid to Gaza by all possible means—by land and by air.
