UN agency warns of worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of a deepening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, stating that essential supplies are nearly depleted amid an ongoing 'Israeli' blockade that has lasted for over six weeks.
UNRWA reported that food stocks are almost entirely exhausted and bakeries have ceased operations, as hunger spreads rapidly among the population. The agency noted that infants and children are going to sleep hungry, with no sign of sufficient humanitarian aid reaching the besieged enclave.
The UN agency stressed the urgent need for immediate action to prevent a total humanitarian collapse, warning that continued silence will lead to an unprecedented escalation in the suffering of civilians trapped inside Gaza.
