Netanyahu's office receives list of captives to be released on Thursday
The office of "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that it has received a list of names of "Israeli" captives scheduled to be released by Hamas on Thursday.
In this context, a security official in Tel Aviv warned that the second phase of the agreement may fail even before it begins, indicating that Netanyahu's government is intentionally concealing details of the agreement from the public.
According to "Israeli" media reports, the official predicted that Hamas might refrain from completing the first phase if it believes that the second phase will not be implemented, which could complicate the issue of releasing the remaining detainees.
He noted that Prime Minister Netanyahu faces a dilemma in reconciling what he has already agreed to with what he previously promised not to accept, such as withdrawing from Netzarim and the Philadelphia Corridor, stressing that the second phase requires critical decisions that may conflict with government commitments.
For its part, sources close to the "Israeli" Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, confirmed that existing obstacles can be overcome, as the second phase is considered part of a "comprehensive historical process" that includes relations with Arab countries, deploying a multinational force in Gaza, ending Hamas's rule, and rebuilding the sector with international support.
