Trump invites Netanyahu as first foreign leader to visit in second term

US President Donald Trump invited "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House next week, making him the first foreign leader to visit during Trump’s second term, as confirmed by both Netanyahu and the White House on Tuesday.

The Associated Press (AP) reported that the meeting, scheduled for February 4, offers Netanyahu—who is under domestic pressure—a chance to emphasize his strong relationship with Trump and to defend "Israel's" actions in the ongoing aggression on Gaza and the West Bank.

The two last met face-to-face nearly four years ago at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

The meeting takes place as a six-week ceasefire is currently in effect in Gaza, following an agreement between "Israel" and Hamas.

"Israel" is the largest recipient of US military aid, and Netanyahu is likely to ask Trump to avoid delays in weapons deliveries – the report by AP said.
