Jordanian court sentenced a man to seven years of temporary hard labor and an accomplice to 10 years for a failed plot that left the man’s daughter severely injured instead of his intended target—his wife.

According to court records, the husband, recently released from prison after serving time for attempted murder, planned a vengeful attack on his wife due to deep marital conflicts. He enlisted two friends, including one nicknamed “the hitman,” to carry out the assault, which involved slashing her face with a razor blade.

The accomplice, described as a drug user with a criminal history, prepared a modified razor blade to inflict severe, long-lasting facial wounds. The group planned the attack meticulously, intending to keep the husband away from the scene to maintain an alibi.

On the night of the attack, the hired assailant approached the family’s home, where the wife lived with her daughter. Mistaking the daughter for her mother due to her small stature and his impaired judgment, the man attacked her instead, inflicting grievous injuries to her face.

The court, presided over by Judge Ahmed Abu Nuair and Judge Tehani Al-Majali, found the husband guilty of incitement and conspiracy to commit the attack. The hired accomplice was sentenced to ten years under Article 334 for causing grievous bodily harm, while the husband received a seven-year sentence under charges of attempted murder and use of force.

The ruling, which is subject to appeal, underscores the tragedy of familial violence and its devastating consequences. The prosecution emphasized the seriousness of the crime, noting the irreversible physical and emotional harm inflicted on the daughter.
