Frost risk looms as cold nights continue across Jordan
Meteorologists predict stable weather conditions across most parts of Jordan in the coming days, with nighttime temperatures remaining cold and a chance of frost formation in some areas – per ArabiaWeather.
Easterly winds are expected to pick up on Tuesday, enhancing the feeling of cold during the day.
Mild days, cold nights, and frost in some areas
Daytime temperatures on Monday are forecast to remain 3-5°C above seasonal averages. The weather will be relatively cold in most regions, warming slightly in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds are expected to be light and variable.
At night, temperatures will drop significantly, becoming cold in most areas and very cold in the eastern Badia. Frost formation is likely, particularly during the pre-dawn hours.
Tuesday: Siberian High brings more cold
On Tuesday, the influence of the Siberian High will extend over the region, causing gradual strengthening of southeasterly winds. These winds will increase the sensation of cold, even during the day.
By evening, the weather will turn colder, with temperatures feeling even lower than the actual readings. In Amman, for instance, the low is forecast at 7°C, but the perceived temperature will dip to around 3°C due to wind chill.
Tips and recommendations
- Residents in cold-prone areas, particularly in the eastern Badia, are advised to take precautions against frost during the night and early Monday morning.
- Layer up with warmer clothing at night and during early morning hours on Tuesday, as the perceived cold will be more intense.
