Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, announced Tuesday that ceasefire negotiations in Doha concerning Gaza have reached their final stages. He expressed optimism about positive developments soon.

Speaking at a press conference, Ansari stated that key obstacles hindering the agreement have been resolved, with current discussions focused on finalizing details. Qatar has provided draft agreements to both parties, though specifics of the negotiations remain undisclosed.

"We do believe that we are at a developed stage, we do believe that we are at the final stages, but obviously until there's an announcement there will be no announcement. Therefore, we shouldn't be over-excited about what's happening right now. But certainly we are hopeful that this would lead very soon to an agreement," he said.

He emphasized the importance of continued efforts to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza through a comprehensive agreement. Once finalized, the ceasefire will be implemented immediately, with the remaining discussions centered on execution mechanisms.

Ansari praised Qatar, Egypt, and the United States for their mediation efforts, acknowledging significant contributions by the Biden and Trump administrations in advancing the negotiations.

He reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering support for ending the occupation in Gaza and the broader Palestinian territories, emphasizing that the final decision must rest with the Palestinian people. Doha’s optimism stems from overcoming previous obstacles that blocked progress toward an agreement.
