Israeli Occupation's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has urged Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to resign from the government if a ceasefire agreement with Gaza is signed. Ben-Gvir called the proposed deal a "surrender agreement."

Ben-Gvir told Smotrich, "Let’s inform Netanyahu that we will resign together if the deal is finalized," according to Yedioth Ahronoth.

Smotrich echoed similar concerns, describing the agreement as a "disaster for national security," opposing the release of high-profile Palestinian prisoners and halting military operations in Gaza.

Smotrich advocated for occupying Gaza, controlling aid, and intensifying military actions until Hamas surrenders. Despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attempts to persuade Smotrich to back the deal, his efforts reportedly failed, as per the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

Meanwhile, Walla revealed details of the proposed deal, excluding prisoners involved in the October 7 attacks from the first phase of negotiations. The agreement includes a partial military withdrawal from Gaza based on specified maps, while 'Israeli' forces maintain a buffer zone to ensure security during the initial implementation phase.

Further discussions are expected to address prisoner exchanges and military arrangements following a 16-day ceasefire period.
