Winter in Amman.
Unstable weather conditions expected in Jordan this week
The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) forecasts relatively cold weather across most regions on Sunday, with warmer conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds are expected at medium and high altitudes.
Unstable weather by evening
As evening comes, the kingdom will gradually be affected by a weather disturbance. Clouds will thicken at various altitudes, bringing scattered rain showers to southern and eastern areas, including Aqaba. Some rain may be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms.
By nightfall, rainfall is expected to extend to parts of central Jordan, with active southeasterly winds stirring dust, especially in desert areas.
Weather warnings
The meteorological department has issued warnings for:
- Reduced visibility due to dust in desert regions
- The risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the south and east, including Aqaba
- Slippery roads due to rain
Monday's weather
The unstable weather will persist into Monday, with relatively cold conditions in most areas and varying cloud cover. Scattered rain showers, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected in eastern and southeastern regions.
Winds will shift to northeasterly to northwesterly, moderate to occasionally active, and may cause dust in desert regions.
By evening, conditions are forecast to stabilize, with diminishing clouds and chilly overnight temperatures.
