Aviation authority confirms no decision yet on Jordanian flights to Damascus
The head of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), Haitham Misto, confirmed that no decision has been made yet to resume flights from Jordan to Damascus.
In a statement to Roya, he clarified that airlines have not been granted permission to operate Jordanian flights to Damascus International Airport.
This announcement followed the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority's (SCAA) declaration of resuming international flights to Damascus International Airport next Tuesday after services were halted due to the ousting of Bashar Al-Assad's regime last month.
Misto stated that the authority will assess the operational safety of Damascus International Airport from both technical and logistical perspectives, evaluating all airport facilities, air navigation systems, and surrounding areas to ensure compliance with international safety standards.
He added that technical teams will be dispatched to verify operational safety based on the information provided by the SCAA.
Previously, Damascus International Airport had resumed domestic flights and received aircraft delivering aid from various countries.
