Assad proposes new constitution, sources claim

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has reportedly proposed the creation of a new constitution and the initiation of talks with political opposition groups, according to sources familiar with the matter, as reported by Bloomberg.

Earlier Saturday, the Russian Coordination Center in Syria reported that over 300 individuals were killed and 55 vehicles destroyed in airstrikes carried out by Syrian and Russian forces. The strikes targeted positions of armed groups in the Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama regions over the past 24 hours, according to Syria’s official news agency, SANA.

Additionally, Syrian Presidency issued a statement Saturday, saying the President Bashar Al-Assad is carrying out his duties from the capital Damascus; denying reports that Assad has left the country.

The presidency said the reports are “blatant fabrications" and part of a familiar strategy used by certain outlets to spread misinformation.
