Former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Hezbollah reveals preparations for Nasrallah’s funeral
Hezbollah revealed its preparations for a large funeral procession for its former Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah – per an announcement Wednesday following the brokering and implementation of a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Nasrallah was killed in an “Israeli” airstrike that targeted the Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut’s southern suburbs in late September.
Mahamoud Qomati, deputy head of Hezbollah’s political council, said during a press conference in Beirut’s southern suburbs, "We postponed the funeral of His Eminence, the Secretary-General, to ensure a fitting tribute to his spirit and martyrdom, along with his comrade, His Eminence Hashem Safieddine."
Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah’s executive council, was also killed in the same strike.
Qomati added, "We are now preparing for a funeral that will be exceptional, significant, and attended by the public, officials, and political figures."
