Government grants deadline extension to renew expired vehicle licenses penalty-free
In a move aimed at easing the financial burdens on vehicle owners, the Cabinet announced the decision to allow expired license holders to renew their expired licenses penalty-free until the end of the year.
The Cabinet's session held on Tuesday under the leadership of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan decided to exempt owners of vehicles with expired licenses for several years from additional fines and penalties for late renewals. This exemption will be valid until Dec. 31, 2024.

Additionally, the Cabinet extended this decision to also include the waiver of acquisition fees for vehicles whose licenses have been expired for more than one year, as well as any re-registration fees that may be due, provided they meet the same deadline.
The decision comes as part of a broader effort to simplify registration and licensing processes for vehicle owners who have not renewed their licenses in several years. The government aims to reduce the financial strain on citizens, especially those struggling with expired vehicle licenses.
In addition to the financial relief, the initiative also seeks to improve road safety and public health by encouraging the timely registration of vehicles. The move is expected to help address the ongoing challenge of ensuring all vehicles on the road meet safety and regulatory standards, ultimately contributing to the overall safety of Jordanian citizens.
