Agreement reached on 2024 medical fees tariff in meeting at Ministry of Health
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, to resolve the ongoing dispute between the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) and various insurance entities over the 2024 medical fees tariff published in the Official Gazette.
The government was represented by Health Minister Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, Government Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, and Minister of State for Legal Affairs Dr. Fayad Al-Qudah. The insurance sector was represented by Dr. Nazeer Al-Bateh, President of the Jordan Health Insurance Association, Secretary General Dr. Fawaz Al-Ajlouni, Chairman of the Jordan Insurance Federation Eng. Majed Smeirat, CEO Dr. Moayad Kalloub, and attorney Raed Al-Owaidat. From the Jordan Medical Association, President Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi and Cooperative Fund President Dr. Hatem Al-Rawashdeh attended.
Health Minister Al-Hawari emphasized the cooperative spirit and national responsibility demonstrated by all parties during the meeting. He reiterated the commitment to uphold the rule of law and apply the legal provisions consistently.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to implement the new medical fees schedule as published in the Official Gazette, starting from June 15, 2025. Additionally, they approved the mechanisms for implementing the Cooperative Fund System for doctors, established in 2018. A joint committee was formed, consisting of three members from the JMA and three from the insurance entities, chaired by Dr. Raed Al-Shboul, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Healthcare and Epidemics. The committee is tasked with finalizing the necessary operational details and completing its work by June 15, 2025.
