20th Parliament convenes for first ordinary session following King’s address
The 20th Jordanian Parliament held its first session of the ordinary session today, following the Speech from the Throne delivered by King Abdullah II at the opening ceremony.
The session was presided over by the longest-serving member of Parliament. In cases where members have equal service time, the oldest member in terms of age is given precedence. The session concludes with the election of the Speaker of the House, in accordance with Article 3 of the Parliament's internal regulations.

The agenda for the first session included recitations from the Quran, followed by the reading of royal decrees. These decrees outlined the postponement of the National Assembly's ordinary session to Nov. 18, 2024, and the call for the assembly to convene starting that day. Additionally, the session featured the presentation of the official results of the 2024 parliamentary elections by the Chairman of the Independent Election Commission.
The session also included the swearing-in ceremony, where members of Parliament took their oaths before officially commencing their duties.
