Tragic week in Jordan: Fourteen lives lost

Last week, Jordanians were shaken by a series of tragic incidents that left 14 people dead in various traffic accidents and violent crimes, as reported by the Public Security Directorate.

Six Killed in Devastating Accident on Al-Adasiya Road
On Monday, a horrific traffic accident on the Al-Adasiya road toward the Jordan Valley claimed six lives and left three others injured. The incident occurred when a truck overturned and crashed into seven vehicles, causing widespread destruction. Civil Defense and police teams responded to the scene to manage the aftermath of the accident.

Detainee Takes Own Life in Police Custody
On the same day, the Public Security Directorate reported that a detainee involved in an ongoing investigation in Irbid was found to have taken his own life. The detainee was discovered in the restroom of a local police station, where he had used a piece of clothing to hang himself. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed that one of the detainee’s family members had visited him just an hour before the incident. An autopsy was conducted, and an investigation has been opened.

Man Fatally Stabs Wife in Marj Al-Hamam
On Tuesday, an expatriate man reportedly stabbed his wife, also a foreign national, in the Marj Al-Hamam area of Amman. She succumbed to her injuries shortly after. The suspect turned himself in to authorities, and investigations are underway.

Fatal Collision and Vehicle Fire on Al-Adasiya Road
In another accident on the Al-Adasiya road, a driver was killed after his vehicle caught fire following a severe collision on the route leading to the Dead Sea.

Two Deaths in Separate Incidents
On Thursday, the Traffic Report on AmenFM detailed multiple accidents in Amman and other provinces, primarily due to sudden lane changes and other serious violations. The report confirmed two fatalities and three injuries. One pedestrian was fatally struck in Amman’s Marka area, while another person lost their life in a separate collision in Naour.

Three Killed in Late-Week Collision on 60 Street, Al-Balqa
In a tragic conclusion to the week, three people died and five were injured in a crash on 60 Street in Al-Balqa on Thursday evening. The accident, involving a collision between two vehicles, was confirmed in an official statement by the Public Security Directorate.
