Khaled Rababah, head of the Jordanian Nurses and Midwives Council (JNMC), announced that a recent meeting between Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and leaders of health syndicates was both promising and constructive.

In a press statement on Monday, Rababah emphasized the significance of the meeting, which included Minister of Health Dr. Firas Al-Hawari. He stressed the need to translate the agreement signed between the syndicate and the Ministry of Health, which outlines essential nursing demands, and noted that the Prime Minister responded positively to this request.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister also expressed his willingness to revisit the human resources and civil service systems to ensure they better reflect current realities.

Rababah advocated for a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing public sector performance, calling for a strategic framework paired with actionable plans that incorporate measurable performance indicators.

Additionally, Rababah proposed establishing a national authority or company to oversee the operation of healthcare facilities. He underscored the importance of maintaining the Ministry of Health’s role in legislation, regulation, and oversight while addressing management challenges through the recruitment of qualified technocratic leaders to facilitate administrative modernization.

The discussion also highlighted the urgent need to review pension funds within certain syndicates, with Rababah emphasizing the necessity for a swift evaluation to rectify any issues.
