Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has strongly condemned remarks made by far-right Israeli Occupation Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, which resurfaced from a statement he made in 2016 when he was a Knesset member.

The ministry stated that these inflammatory and delusional comments reflect the minister’s extremist ideological views.

Spokesperson for the Ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, expressed Jordan's outright rejection and condemnation of Smotrich’s exclusionary statements, calling them a violation of international law and global norms.

He emphasized that such rhetoric does not undermine Jordan, nor does it negate the inalienable rights of Palestinians to establish their independent, sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Qudah further noted that these remarks highlight the dangerous, racist ideology held by the minister and stressed the urgent need for the international community to take immediate action to curb Israeli Occupation's unbridled aggression, as demonstrated by its ongoing assaults on Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.

In a recent interview, Smotrich stated that he wants a Jewish state that "includes Jordan, and lands from Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq," adding that, according to prominent Jewish scholars, Jerusalem’s destiny is to extend to Damascus.
