Jordan condemns 'Israeli' airstrike targeting UN Peacekeepers in southern Lebanon
Jordan has condemned the Israeli Occupation airstrike in the Naqoura region of southern Lebanon, which targeted a site belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), resulting in injuries to two peacekeeping soldiers, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry emphasized that this act constitutes a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
In a statement received by Roya, the Foreign Ministry reiterated the Kingdom's rejection and condemnation of the Israeli Occupation aggression against UN peacekeeping forces, stressing the need to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and to respect and support their role in promoting peace and stability as mandated by the Security Council.
Additionally, the ministry renewed Jordan's condemnation of Israeli Occupation aggression against Lebanon as a flagrant violation of international law and a serious escalation that threatens to plunge the region into a comprehensive regional war. Jordan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Lebanon, its sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens, calling for immediate international action to halt the aggression against Lebanon.
