Axios, citing sources in Tel Aviv, noted that Hashem Safieddine, who is seen as the leading candidate to succeed Hassan Nasrallah, was specifically the target of the recent assault.
IOF spokesperson Avichay Adraee confirmed that the operation aimed at Hezbollah's main intelligence headquarters on Thursday.
The sources indicated that the results of the bombing remain unclear; however, it has been reported that Safieddine was in a deep underground hideout at the time of the attack.
