Jordan has received the body of Jordanian martyr Maher al-Jazi, who carried out the Karama Crossing (Allenby Crossing) operation on the opposite side of the King Hussein Bridge, which resulted in his death and the killing of three “Israelis”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that al-Jazi's body had been received and would be handed over to his family for burial in Jordan.

Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Qudah, told Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities in the kingdom, continues its efforts to secure the release of Jordanian citizens Musleh al-Awdat and Hussein al-Naimat, who were detained following the shooting incident on the Palestinian side of the King Hussein Bridge, controlled by Israeli occupation forces, on September 8.

Sources close to the family said that they received Maher’s body after the completion of legal and medical procedures.

The source said the prosecutor ordered the body to be handed over to the family after a medical examination conducted by a forensic committee under his supervision.

Habis al-Jazi al-Huwaitat, the uncle of martyr Maher al-Jazi confirmed that the funeral will take place in the governorate of Ma'an after the noon prayer on Tuesday.

Al-Jazi expects a massive turnout for the funeral procession, hoping it will pass without any incidents.

He also noted that the entire Jordanian people wish to pay their final respects to Maher al-Jazi.

Al-Jazi said that the al-Jazi tribe and the al-Huwaitat clan are the backbone of the state, and expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by the Jordanian people.

He also mentioned that the tribe is holding a coordination meeting to discuss the arrangements for the martyr’s funeral.
