The General Iftaa Department in Jordan has issued a stern warning against combining Quranic recitation with music, denouncing it as a grave sin and a violation of Islamic teachings.

The department emphasized that Quranic recitation must remain pure and free from musical influences such as singing, dancing, or instrumental accompaniment, as it distorts the sacred text and undermines its reverence.

Citing Quranic verses, the statement reiterated that Muslims are obligated to respect and uphold the sanctity of the Quran, ensuring that it is recited as revealed, without any additions that could alter its divine message.

The department also urged Muslims to refrain from supporting or spreading any content that disrespects the Quran, calling on the community to protect and preserve the holy text as it was passed down through generations.

The statement concluded with a reminder that the Quran is under divine protection, as stated in the verse: “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian” (Quran 15:9), assuring that no attempts to undermine the holy book will succeed. The department also prayed for Muslims to continue honoring the Quran through correct recitation, teaching, and practice.
