His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Regent, on Tuesday visited the 6th Royal Border Guard Battalion, one of the units of the 1st Border Guard Brigade of the Eastern Military Region.
Crown Prince Al Hussein, accompanied by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti and the region’s commander, listened to a briefing on the battalion’s tasks and duties within its area of responsibility, in order to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and readiness.
His Royal Highness was also briefed on the border security system, as well as the weapons and equipment used by the Border Guards.
During the visit, the Crown Prince observed a security exercise conducted by the battalion, which simulated the various threats faced by the Border Guards in dealing with arms and drug smuggling groups, as well as terrorist organisations.
In addition, the exercise included live fire, aerial support by Cobra attack helicopters, the use of drones, and the participation of a team from the Royal Engineering Corps to handle explosives.
His Royal Highness commended the Border Guards’ advanced level of readiness and training, expressing pride in the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army personnel and their high morale.
