Jordan strongly condemned “Israel's” systematic targeting of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), its buildings, and its shelters, including the agency's headquarters in Gaza – per a statement by the Foreign Ministry released today.

“This assault appears to be an attempt to undermine the agency’s crucial role in providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people as mandated by the UN,” the statement said.

An airstrike by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) targeting an UNRWA school in the Al-Nusairat camp earlier today, which resulted in 23 people killed, with dozens others wounded.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Qudah denounced the targeting of civilians and relief organizations, and criticized the international community's silence, which he said encourages “Israel” to persist in these actions due to the lack of effective measures to halt these violations and hold those responsible accountable.

Ambassador Qudah stressed that “Israel's” attempts to undermine UNRWA, which plays a vital role in providing essential services to Palestinians in Gaza, must be countered by the entire international community.

He emphasized that the continued operation of UNRWA is crucial for maintaining the Palestinian refugee issue, especially amid the ongoing “Israeli” aggression on Gaza since October 7.
